As MP Jo Cox’s murder is mourned internationally we are reminded of the fragility of life, the hatred that exists in the world, and that there are callous individuals in our midst unafraid to commit the ultimate act of taking a human life. We might reflect also on the nature of political discourse in this country, and elsewhere, particularly when the toxic subject of immigration takes centre stage and brings out the worst in us. Christian teaching tells us the sum of all is ‘love God with all your heart, and your neighbour as yourself’.’ Let’s us love not hate, choose life, not death. This is worth remembering.
Love not hate, life not death!
